URGENT Energy Update for Larger Businesses!

British Gas is passing through two significant new non-commodity charges to some larger business customers starting May 6, 2026. These costs are set by government policy and regulatory oversight by Ofgem, with publications indicating the rises were "exceptional and outside of all reasonable forecasted expectations".

Here are the key changes you need to know:

  • Increased Transmission Network Use of System (TNUoS) Costs: A major rise to fund critical UK electricity grid improvements. This is necessary to expand capacity and connect more renewables to the grid to support the UK’s net zero transition.

  • New Nuclear Regulated Asset Base (nRAB) Levy: A new, government-mandated charge introduced to help fund the next generation of UK nuclear power stations. This financing model allows developers to recover costs while the project is under construction.

British Gas is currently writing to affected customers with details on the new rates.
